Celt is an independent magazine I designed and bound during my time at university. It celebrates Irish culture; highlighting traditional music, history, culture, mythology, and more.
The magazine is aimed at young creatives in Ireland who are interested in how the country’s deeply rooted traditions and heritage continue to shape and influence the modern world. The result is design which merges elements of Irish history with abstract and modern juxtapositions.

ISSUE ONE: TIDE

There was a rich history of visual culture I could draw upon in creating a magazine about Irish culture. This manifested itself via typography inspired by the Book of Kells and Celtic knots. These features were the foundation of Celt’s brand identity.
THE SERIES
The first issue of celt , titled Tide, explores Ireland’s connection to the sea, the second issue, Sláinte, delves into Ireland’s drinking culture, whilst the third issue, Holy, examines Ireland’s fluid relationship with religion.
